Redmond came from Nicaragua to the U.S as a university student in 1971. After completing his undergraduate studies, Redmond worked as an investment banker raising capital for startups, mezzanine and development companies in the biotechnology industry.
He returned to Nicaragua in the 1990s and worked in various capacities with FADCANIC, a not-for-profit development organization and URACCAN a private university on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua.
Currently, Redmond is a tenured Associate Professor of Finance and founder and Director of the Center for Rural Development and Entrepreneurship at Upper Iowa University. Redmond also served as the Dean of the School of Business at Upper Iowa University.
